Hello, my name is Patricia Pendergast. I have been a Gear-up tutor for over 8 years. I am a single mother of 4 boys; Andrew 19, Matthew 17, Daniel and Peter are 11. I graduated from Mt. Ida College; currently I am a continuing education student at Northern Essex Community College, with the hope of one day being a Social Worker. I come from a diverse career background; Insurance, Banking and Television, but my true passion is working with young adults.
Whenever possible I love being outdoors in the fresh air, either doing something quiet and reflective (like reading or listening to music) or breaking a sweat playing a game of tennis (badminton or waffle ball) with my children. During the winter I ski, skate of sled with my children. During the warmer weather months I like to go hiking, fishing, and kayaking around the New England ponds and lakes. I also enjoy watching the birds in my yard, and have many feeders to attract them.
Some of my favorite hobbies are playing cards (or board games), going to the beach, gardening, photography and travel. I especially value the time I spend with family and friends.
Being a single mother of 4 boys has brought many unexpected challenges. I have learned to embrace the good times and weather the not so good ... to be grateful, everything is a process. My favorite expression from the t-shirts “Life Is Good”, when you believe it, it is.
